The costumes of KOOZA are inspired by a variety of sources, including graphic novels and comic books, time travel films, India and Eastern European cultures, marching bands, and the works of Gustav Klimt.
You will be astounded by the swift costume transformations, the detail of textures, and the classic circus colors of a wardrobe that evokes a world of toys, tin soldiers and children’s book illustrations.
The Skeleton costume contains actual percussion instruments made of molded carbon. When the performers hit them against each other to create a musical rhythm, they look and sound like bones.
The Mad Dog costume is a veritable one-man band on legs. The performer inside has full control to move the ears, stick out and pull back the tongue, salivate, and wag the tail.
The “Rat Cape” is a costume that creates the illusion of rats running down a performer’s body into a trap. This costume is made up of 150 fake-fur rats with crystal eyes to catch the light.
The running effect was inspired by the mechanism of vertical blinds and several of the rats are fitted with little wheels to make them seem even more alive.
